Recall Announced for 2012-2013 Ford Edge Crossovers

Recall Announced for 2012-2013 Ford Edge Crossovers

Recall Announced for 2012-2013 Ford Edge CrossoversClose to 28,000 Ford Edge units from the 2012 and 2013 model years are subject to a new recall, as a result of fire hazards detected on the crossover’s fuel line.  Only those powered by Ford’s 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo four are covered by the recall.

According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration, the Ford Edge units in question may have an improperly installed fuel line pulse damper metal housing.  Due to this potentially incorrect installation, the housing has a chance of cracking, which would then result in a leakage of fuel or the odor itself, and possibly a fire.

27,933 Ford Edges are covered by the recall, all of which are 2012 or 2013 model year vehicles manufactured between September 2, 2010 and April 25, 2013.  Ford noted that the issue was uncovered through warranty claims on the vehicle, though there have been no actual fires or injuries reported due to the defective fuel lines.

Ford has confirmed that it will replace any defective fuel lines without any charge.

The new recall will kick off in February as Ford would begin notifying affected vehicle owners at that time, and will also override a previous recall, with recall number 12V-438.
