2015 Honda Fit

2015 Honda Fit Launched at 2014 Detroit Auto Show, Tech Features Explained

The 2015 Honda Fit was announced this week at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and according to recent reports, the upcoming subcompact will be available with a more powerful engine and two transmission options, and will be manufactured in North America.
In addition, Honda touched on some of the tech features buyers can expect once the new Fit becomes available in dealerships.

A report from Motor Trend took a first-person look at the 2015 Honda Fit, which seems to be roomy enough from the inside to seat passengers of average height or better.  That’s the good news.

Unfortunately, Honda had opted for “shingle” rear seat headrests, which may be inconvenient and uncomfortable for some passengers, as most would have to raise the headrests before lowering them and folding the Fit’s so-called “Magic Seat.”

As far as tech options are concerned, the new Fit will come with capabilities to run smartphone navigation features on the car’s touchscreen display; this option will reportedly cost $60.

The touchscreen would also allow for smartphone or tablet-like functionalities, as users could zoom in by tapping, swiping, then pinching.

The same publication also posted some information on the 2015 Honda Fit’s powertrain options, albeit ahead of the Detroit auto show.  The new Fit will come with a 1.5-liter direct fuel injection I4 engine, with 130 horsepower and 114 lb/ft. torque.  That’s 13 more horses and eight more lb/ft. than the engine of the outgoing Fit.  The engine will be paired with a six-speed manual transmission, with an optional CVT with paddle shifters.  No information on pricing was mentioned, though such details should be announced closer to the release date.
