Day five of Oscar Pistorius's murder trial is characterized by testimony from his ex-girlfriend who says the Paralympic track star carried a gun with him "all the time.
Oscar Pistorius entered the fifth day of his murder trial in Pretoria, South Africa, on Friday.
The Olympic sports icon is accused of shooting dead his girlfriend Reeva Steencamp on Valentine's Day last year.
The court heard emotional testimony from his ex girlfriend, Samantha Taylor, whose face wasn't shown to cameras.
OSCAR PISTORIUS' DEFENSE LAWYER, BARRY ROUX, SAYING:
"Miss Taylor, do you say that when he took Reeva Steenkamp out for the first time, that he was still in a relationship with you?
"WITNESS, SAMANTHA TAYLOR, SAYING:"
Yes, we were.
"WITNESS, SAMANTHA TAYLOR, SAYING:
"The first time our relationship ended, was when he cheated on me with.....(breaks down in tears)"Pistorius says he shot Steencamp through a closed bathroom door in the middle of the night after mistaking her for an introducer.
During her testimony, Taylor also said Pistorius carried a gun with him "all the time".
She recounted a night in their relationship .... when he heard a noise from his bathroom, much like the night of the fatal shooting.
WITNESS, SAMANTHA TAYLOR, SAYING:
"Oscar woke me up and asked me if I had heard it and I said it must have just been from the storm - there was a storm that night. And so, he got up with his gun, and he walked out of the room.
"PROSECUTION LAWYER, GERRIE NEL, SAYING:"
But he woke you up.
"WITNESS, SAMANTHA TAYLOR, SAYING:
"Yes, he woke me up."Pistorius has said he didn't check if Steenkamp was still in bed before going into the bathroom to confront the supposed intruder the night he shot her.
In addition to her murder, he's also facing three firearms offenses.It's part of the prosecution's attempt to portray him as a gun-obsessed hot-head.
One of the best-known Paralympic athletes, Pistorius could face life behind bars if convicted of intent to kill.
