Bobbi Kristina Brown Dies at 22

Nearly six months after being found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub in her Georgia home — and a month after being moved to hospice — Bobbi Kristina Brown, the only child of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, has died at the age of 22.

The Associated Press reported her death on Sunday night. "Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July 26, 2015, surrounded by her family," a rep for the Houston family said. "She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.

Bobbi Kristina was discovered by friend Max Lomas and the man she referred to as her husband, Nick Gordon, on Jan. 31, and was transferred to an Atlanta-area hospital. Though no drugs were found at her home when medics arrived, a criminal investigation was eventually opened; however, no arrests have been made.

Buhari Turns Down U.S. Proposal On Gay Marriage

The Presidency announced on Wednesday that President Muhammadu Buhari has flatly rejected a proposal from the United States to reverse Nigeria’s anti-gay law.
Buhari is in the United States on a four-day official trip on the invitation of President Barack Obama.
Buhari spokesman, Femi Adesina, took to twitter to announce that American officials broached the idea to Buhari, who replied that gay marriage was not only against Nigerian law but against the culture of the people.
“The issue of gay marriage came up here yesterday. PMB (Buhari) was point blank. Sodomy is against the law in Nigeria, and abhorrent to our culture.
“The same sex marriage issue came up at the joint session of Senate and House Committees on Foreign Affairs, not in direct talks with Obama.
“Talks shifted to another matter once PMB emphatically stated Nigeria’s stand on same sex mar
riage. The issue was not pushed”, Adesina said on his twitter handle on Wednesday.
Many Nigerians had expressed fears that American government would try to get Buhari to reverse the law, which was signed by former President Goodluck Jonathan last year.
The fear is borne out of the belief that America has been emboldened by its recent Supreme Court judgement legalising gay-marriage and may want to push the issue to any country seeking its assistance on any matter as Buhari has gone for help to fulful his campaign promises to Nigerians.

Watermelon 'boosts athletic performance and improves recovery'

Eating watermelon before exercise helps cut recovery time and boost performance, a study has found.  The juice has long had a reputation amongst athletes, but now scientists have found evidence that it can relieve post-exercise muscle soreness.

One of the naturally occurring chemicals found in the fruit accelerates lactic acid removal, allowing better physical performance as the athlete can carry out more intense training and is able to recover faster after each workout, it is said.

The report, published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, attributes watermelon's effects to the amino acid L-citrulline.

“Watermelon juice, naturally rich in l-citrulline, is an excellent option for athletes who want to improve their sports performance,” the authors say.

Their study confirms previous findings that the fruit can improve athletic ability.

Abducted Chinese boy; After 24 years apart reunited with family

Hong Kong - A Chinese man has been reunited with his father 24 years after he was abducted as a toddler from a vegetable market.
In 1991, 4-year-old Sun Bin was taken by child traffickers from his hometown in Sichuan province and sold to a family thousands of miles away, in Jiangsu province on the country's eastern coast, Chinese state media reported.

On Tuesday, Sun was finally reacquainted with his 60-year-old father, Sun Youhong, and a younger sister he had never met. The moment was captured in a moving series of photographs.
"I was happy. I was grateful," the father said. "But I was also bitter."
Child trafficking is still a major business in China, as traffickers seek to profit off a growing demand for healthy babies from potential adoptive parents in China and elsewhere.
Boys, prized because they carry on the family line, are in great demand and fetch higher prices.
Earlier this week, Chinese police said they had rescued 37 newborn babies after busting a trafficking ring that sold the babies for up $13,000 each.

Older Diabetics may be at Risk for Pushing Blood Sugar too low

DIABETES_REUTERS_640.jpg
Older diabetics may sometimes do too good a job at keeping their blood sugar down, according to a new study.
Regardless of age, people with diabetes are taught to keep their blood sugar below certain target levels. But many diabetics over 65 who have other health concerns may be at risk for pushing it too low, according to a new study.
Particularly for older adults with multiple serious illnesses and functional limitations, the risks of low blood sugar, or hypoglycemia, may outweigh the benefits of tight blood sugar control, the authors write.
